Joe Calvo

Let's face it...sometimes the world is just plain ordinary. This has been the perpetual itch of J. R. Calvo. He'd call himself a jack of all trades...others would dub him: an odd duck. Born in January of 1983 in New Haven, Connecticut, he always dreamed of the otherworldly, and riled against the norm. “I deny your common sense, and substitute my ridiculousness,” often announced the latest path-changing step of his life. Why follow the preppy herd, when drama club has more fun? Why be a pretentious actor, when the techies really make it happen? Why go to another prom, when I can go hang out on the Appalachian Trail? Why join the Air Force, when I can dye my hair blue? Why be a Computer Science major, when I can delve into the forbidden tomes of His Dark Materials? Why not jump off this 45 foot cliff into the ocean? Why not move to Pennsylvania? Why waste away in the ole nine to five?

Why not write?

Ever since he was a young child, Calvo was the entertainer, delighting in baffling his audience. Eye-rolling is applause enough sometimes. Claustrophobic within the constraints of reality, Calvo spent many days dreaming, and reading. His trekkie parents kindled the dreamer Calvo with ample doses of everything from Shatner to Star Wars. His collection of books, enough to insulate a small house, includes: Gaiman, Pratchett, Pullman, Tolkien, Jordan, Goodkind, Sanderson, Orson Scott Card, Heinlein, James O'Barr and more. Many of the spines are torn from abuse, if not clawed by his Joss Whedon-addicted cat, Harley. She likes Wash and Angel...don't judge. Like all great adventures, this is when the annoying omniscient one hits Calvo with a two by four of inspiration. Why not write, you love to tell stories? A pot of coffee later, and Calvo's mischievous plot was concocted. Why not pit Science Fiction against Fantasy? Thus began Resonics. Who would win in a fight a mech or a jedi? However, this is merely the backdrop. Resonics is foremost about the very real people. The villains who think they're doing what's best, the good guys drunk on their own legends, and the robotic centaur with a heart of gold… What? You never heard that one? Come and see.
